Keith A. Schmitz, EA
Owner
Keith A. Schmitz is the Owner of Badger Bookkeeping & Tax Service. He graduated from St. Mary’s University in 1994, and went to work for CPA's in the corporate world. After spending 13 years at some of San Antonio’s largest employers, including USAA, NuStar Energy, and Clear Channel, he started Badger Bookkeeping in November 2006. In January 2008, he purchased W.H. Bickers’ tax and bookkeeping practice, and Badger Bookkeeping & Tax Service was born.
Keith continues his education today by attending seminars to maintain his professional skills. He is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents (state and local affiliates) and is President of the San Antonio Northwest Rotary Cluband the Jalapeño Chapter of the Texas Society of Enrolled Agents. He has been an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service since 2008.
Keith is a native Wisconsinite (but San Antonio is home now) and huge sports fan. He counts the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) Cardinals, San Antonio Spurs, San Antonio Silver Stars, San Antonio Rampage, and Colorado Avalanche among his favorite teams.
W.H. Bickers
Founder
W.H. Bickers graduated from Texas Tech University in 1950. After 20 year associations with oil companies, he formed a one-man income tax practice in 1971. Over the next 37 years, he grew the office into a successful, well-staffed bookkeeping and income tax service provider, which he sold to Keith A. Schmitz in January 2008.
Mr. Bickers was a Charter Member of the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and San Antonio Northeast Rotary Club. He became an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service in 1973.
Mr. Bickers passed away in November 2009.
Arlene Leinweber
Senior Bookkeeper
Arlene Leinweber has worked at Badger Bookkeeping & Tax Service since 1979. Keith and his clients depend on her confidence, knowledge, ability to provide outstanding service, and work proficiency.
Terri Glascock
Data Processor & Assoc. Bookkeeper
Terri Glascock has been a dedicated associate since 1985. She is a specialist in preparing payrolls, and keying tax returns and bookkeeping data. Terri is taking a profound interest in the bookkeeping function of the business, and has begun to prepare the books for several companies.

Bookkeeping
- Use your check stubs, bank statement, and sales records to produce a monthly (or quarterly) income statement and balance sheet.
- Keep a comprehensive record of how much your small business owes creditors and how much is owed to you.

How do we get our source information to you?
You can mail/email your source documents (check stubs, bank statement, credit card statement, etc.).
First off, your business is assigned to a professional bookkeeper who has an extensive interview with you to get to know your business and its unique requirements. Your Bookkeeper becomes a trusted advisor who thoroughly understands your business and its needs.
Then your Bookkeeper manages the regular updating of your books with all transactions, deposits and checks, and payables and receivables. At month's-end, we create financial reports for you that give you an accurate picture of your businesses' finances.
First, call or email 
to discuss your individual requirements. Once we have tailored a custom package for you, there are a few simple steps to getting started:
1. We'll send you an engagement letter that outlines what we are going to do for you. You sign this and return it to us with a set up fee.
2. You send us your set-up source documents and your QuickBooks® file (if any).
4. Your Bookkeeper will get started on setting up your books and contact you!
What if I'm a few months behind?
Most businesses are a few months behind in their bookkeeping when they come to Badger Bookkeeping. That is precisely why they need us - because it is difficult to stay on top of your books and run a demanding business! It's simple - you send us the source documents (bank statements, credit card statements, etc.) for the current year, your Bookkeeper will take it from there, catching you up and getting you current so you have an accurate picture of your business finances.
Wouldn't I be better off hiring an in-house bookkeeper?
In most cases, no. To hire an in-house bookkeeper, first you must find that person, check their credentials, negotiate a salary, hire and train them, and manage them. That can be very expensive both in time and money for a business owner. If the person you hire is part-time, you must manage their hours and will only have access to them when they are at work. If they go on vacation, get sick, or leave your employ, you may have a large gap in your accounting and payroll. Furthermore, in some cases, there can be security concerns when only one person has access to all your business financial information, data, bank accounts, statements, and checks.

How do I get started with payroll?
All we need is your company and employee information, and payroll history (if any) for this year. This process is quick and easy. Call us to schedule an appointment to discuss your payroll needs. We will design a customized payroll solution for you.
At year-end, we create W-2 forms for you and your employees. And weprovide you with copies to file with the Social Security Administration. We’ll also take care of your employees’ taxes and any 1099 reporting needs.
